Channapatna - Some days are simply meant for playing . . .
Childhood happens ONCE !!
Memories are the best and most precious for everyone . . .
Hey all :) Hope you all must be rocking this monsoon weekend? Due to severe cold and infection I'm unfortunate enough to enjoy the lovely weather out, but fortunate enough to write my blog after a fortnight :) On my blog today, I would love to share one of my childhood favorite toys, which I'm sure most of us would have come across.
Like every girl I too was crazy about dolls, and I loved them desperately. Apart playing with dolls I loved and enjoyed swirling tops, stackers, rattles, pull toys, etc. The most interesting part of these toys were that these were gifted to me by one of my uncle, which he brought them from Channapatna. These wooden toys are durable, and I still have them as it is with me.

When we talk about its process of manufacturing it includes a number of stages. Yes you heard it right. The factories still here depend on traditional methods of manufacturing including natural colors using turmeric, katha, indigo, etc. Ivory, rosewood & sandalwood are mainly used in making of these handmade toys. The procedure includes processing of wood, cutting them into various shapes and sizes, pruning, carving the toys, applying the colors and finally polish them.
